A collision near Gota Ceramic Market in Ahmedabad involving an Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) bus and three other vehicles resulted in two individuals getting injured and significant damage to the vehicles. The incident occurred when the speeding bus lost control near a busy road intersection close to the ceramic market. It first collided with a school van, then an autorickshaw, and a truck tempo, causing a chain reaction.
Eyewitnesses described the crash as severe, raising concerns about road safety in the area. Fortunately, there were no children in the school van during the collision, and no fatalities were reported. The school van’s front portion suffered severe damage, while the truck tempo overturned into a roadside construction pit. The drivers of the school van and autorickshaw sustained serious injuries and were promptly taken to a hospital for treatment.
Following the collision, swift responses from traffic police and AMTS personnel led to the quick clearance of the road and restoration of traffic flow. AMTS has taken disciplinary actions in response to the incident, including the suspension of the bus driver and the imposition of a Rs 50,000 fine on the bus operator, Chartered Speed Company, for breaching operational norms and speed regulations. Similar incidents involving AMTS buses have been reported in recent months, highlighting the need for enhanced safety measures and vigilance.
