General Administration Department in-charge Minister Ashish Shelar announced the formation of a committee in the Legislative Assembly to suggest ways to regulate government employee transfers and improve transparency in government operations. The committee will include members from both Houses of the Maharashtra Legislature. Senior MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar introduced a bill proposing strict timelines for transfers and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ensure fairness and efficiency in the process. Mungantiwar also called for expedited disposal of official files and suggested a 45-day limit for Ministers’ offices to clear pending files.

Minister Shelar highlighted the government’s previous efforts to enhance transparency in employee transfers through legislation introduced in 2005, which has been amended multiple times. He mentioned the adoption of Confidential Reports for evaluating employee performance. The Minister emphasized the government’s use of AI to enhance efficiency, transparency, and speed in administration. To further improve transparency and efficiency in transfers and file disposal, a committee with members from both Legislative Houses will be established to study the matter and provide recommendations.
