A commotion unfolded outside the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer’s office as Trinamool Congress-aligned Booth Level Officers clashed with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers over an alleged attempt to submit Form-6. Accusations flew from both sides, with the BJP claiming bias from the West Bengal Police towards Trinamool members, while Trinamool accused the BJP of voter list manipulation and collusion with the Election Commission.
The state is gearing up for the upcoming two-phased Assembly election next month.
Kushal Panday, a BJP worker, expressed frustration over the situation, highlighting the alleged favoritism shown towards Trinamool members by the state police. He vowed to respond in kind to the actions taken against them.
Kali Karthick, another BJP worker, echoed concerns about police partiality, emphasizing the need for fair treatment for all parties involved. He criticized the perceived bias and questioned the police’s intentions.
Allegations of undermining democracy were exchanged, with the Trinamool Congress accusing the BJP of attempting to manipulate the state’s voter list by adding individuals from outside West Bengal. Sachin Singh, a Trinamool Congress Councillor, condemned these actions as a threat to democracy and demanded accountability from the Election Commission.
The situation escalated as both parties engaged in protests outside the State CEO office, prompting the police to intervene to maintain law and order.
