The situation in Jabalpur’s Sihora, Madhya Pradesh, has calmed down after a communal clash. Heavy police presence remains to ensure peace in the area. The clash erupted at Azad Chowk in Sihora tehsil during a religious event at a Durga Mata Temple, leading to stone-pelting between groups.
District Collector confirmed on social media that the situation is now fully under control. Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Vishvas Sarang denounced the incident, warning against religious fanaticism and stating that strict action will be taken against those inciting violence. The clash occurred during an aarti at the temple, triggering a dispute that escalated into violence.
Police sources reported that the altercation led to stone-pelting and chaos in the area. Law enforcement quickly intervened, with forces from various stations arriving to restore order. Tear gas shells and mild lathi charges were used to disperse the crowds and prevent further violence.
Authorities have arrested over 15 individuals in connection with the clash and are reviewing CCTV footage for more arrests. The administration has urged the public to cooperate in maintaining peace and avoid spreading rumors. Officials emphasized that peace has been restored in the sensitive location of Azad Chowk, with no further incidents reported.
