The Congress party in Kerala is optimistic about the upcoming Assembly elections, asserting that the United Democratic Front (UDF) holds a significant advantage in the current electoral environment. According to Congress MP K. Suresh, the UDF is poised for a decisive win, anticipating victory in approximately 100 out of the 140 seats. Suresh highlighted the recent visit of senior party leader Rahul Gandhi to the state, where he campaigned for UDF candidates in various constituencies.
Rahul Gandhi kickstarted his election campaign in Kerala with a forceful stance, alleging a covert understanding between the ruling Left and the BJP. Addressing a large gathering in Adoor, Gandhi emphasized the direct competition between the UDF and a perceived alliance between the Left and BJP. He criticized the BJP for overlooking the Left as a genuine adversary at the national level, insinuating a biased approach towards political scrutiny.
Gandhi accused the Kerala government of deviating from true Leftist principles, adopting policies that favor corporate interests akin to the BJP. He drew attention to the challenges faced by rubber farmers due to neglect, blaming both the state and central governments for inadequately safeguarding workers and small-scale producers. Positioning the UDF as a people-centric alternative, Gandhi unveiled a series of key commitments to address pressing issues.
