The Congress has initiated the “MGNREGA Bachao Sangram” campaign nationwide to safeguard people’s right to work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. This campaign involves press conferences at all district committee offices to highlight the importance of protecting this constitutional right. The party aims to fight against the VB G-RAM G Act, which it claims undermines the legal right to work guaranteed to rural citizens.

Jairam Ramesh, Congress General Secretary Communications In-Charge, emphasized the party’s commitment to ensuring the restoration of rights that the Modi government allegedly took away through the demolition of MGNREGA. The Congress plans to conduct a detailed countrywide campaign to protect MGNREGA, which has been a crucial safety net for the citizens, especially during times of crisis. The party leaders have expressed concerns that the new legislation could lead to a decline in employment opportunities and negatively impact rural development.

The Congress has announced a 45-day campaign to address the issues surrounding MGNREGA and the VB G-RAM G Act. The party intends to take this movement to various levels, including state, district, block, and panchayat, to raise awareness and seek support for the cause. The leaders have indicated that they are prepared to take legal action if necessary to ensure the protection and reinstatement of MGNREGA rights for rural India.
