Congress MP Manickam Tagore expressed skepticism towards exit polls, emphasizing that the true mandate of the people will only be evident on counting day. Tagore urged patience, stating that the public has already made their decision, and it should not be manipulated. His comments come amidst varied exit poll results in Tamil Nadu, where different agencies have predicted contrasting outcomes for key political players.
The electoral landscape in Tamil Nadu is marked by a three-cornered contest involving the DMK-led alliance, the AIADMK in partnership with the BJP, and actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Notably, the Axis My India survey has garnered attention by forecasting a potential debut victory for TVK with 98 to 120 seats. The DMK is projected to secure 92 to 110 seats, while the AIADMK is expected to win between 22 and 32 seats, reflecting the diverse predictions in this election.
Tamil Nadu witnessed voting on April 24, with a notable voter turnout of 85.13%. The DMK campaigned on its Dravidian Model of governance and welfare schemes, while the AIADMK focused on anti-corruption pledges and ending what it termed as “one family rule.” In parallel, West Bengal conducted Assembly elections in two phases on April 24 and April 29, with the counting for both states scheduled for May 4.
