Congress MP Manish Tewari has requested an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha to discuss the alleged use of pellet guns by Rapid Action Force personnel during a student protest march to Parliament on July 20. In response to the protest organized due to alleged examination paper leaks, Tewari called for the suspension of Question Hour and other scheduled business to facilitate a comprehensive discussion. He highlighted concerns over the excessive use of force on peaceful protesters and stressed the importance of holding accountable those responsible for the actions. Tewari’s notice aimed at prioritizing the matter as a significant national concern requiring immediate attention.
An internal inquiry by the Central Reserve Police Force is currently investigating the allegations of pellet gun usage during the protest in Delhi. Media reports suggest that the inquiry team is expected to present its findings within the upcoming week. Sources familiar with the investigation revealed that preliminary findings point to the involvement of a Rapid Action Force personnel in firing pellets during the demonstration. The inquiry will assess the circumstances of weapon usage and adherence to operational protocols.
