On the second day of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly’s monsoon session, Congress MLAs staged a protest, carrying a symbolic corpse to highlight the government’s neglect of public issues over controversial agendas. The session, which includes discussions on eight bills, notably the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), has sparked heated debates between the ruling party and the opposition, with Congress strongly opposing the UCC Bill.
Simultaneously, the Finance Department is set to present the first supplementary budget for the financial year 2026-27, with Congress leaders criticizing the government for overlooking the common people’s problems. During the protest, MLAs emphasized that the government is neglecting farmers and engaging in divisive politics instead of addressing crucial concerns faced by the public.
Apart from legislative matters, various House committees are expected to present reports, covering areas such as Petitions and Representations, Public Undertakings, Government Assurances, Agriculture Development, and more. Ministers will also table annual reports and notifications from departments like Women and Child Development, Energy, Higher Education, and Tourism. The session is anticipated to witness discussions on key policy decisions and potential impacts on the state’s political landscape.
