Congress Media In-charge Pawan Khera expressed worries about Judge Vibhanshu Sudheer’s relocation from the Sambhal Chief Judicial Magistrate position. Khera criticized Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for potentially influencing the judiciary in Uttar Pradesh using a familiar strategy. He highlighted the discontent among various groups in Sambhal, including lawyers, due to the transfer.

Khera pointed out a video involving Babu Bajrangi, an accused in the Gujarat riots, to illustrate a similar pattern of judge manipulation. He emphasized that Sudheer’s transfer signifies an attempt by the BJP to exert control over the judiciary. The Congress party declared its support for the Sambhal lawyers amidst these developments.

The transfer of Sudheer, along with 13 other judicial officers, was mandated by the Allahabad High Court. Sudheer has now assumed the role of Civil Judge, Senior Division, in Sultanpur. The move followed Sudheer’s directive to file an FIR against police officers involved in a youth’s shooting during the Sambhal violence of November 2024.

Khera criticized the BJP for what he perceives as a trend of transferring judges to alter legal decisions. He cited instances like the Delhi riots, where judges were allegedly moved for ruling against BJP figures. Khera underscored the dangers of such practices for democracy and justice, urging protection of these principles by the legal community.
