The Congress has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking protection for over 100 Madhya Pradesh citizens stuck at Dubai and Sharjah airports due to the US-Israel conflict with Iran. They have urged the Prime Minister to intervene promptly and facilitate their safe return home. Following the Israeli and American strikes, Iran has been targeting the Gulf region, including Qatar, Jordan, and Dubai.
State Congress leader Jitu Patwari has made a plea to PM Modi to assist in repatriating the stranded passengers to India. Patwari highlighted the plight of the affected individuals, emphasizing the challenges faced by women, children, and families due to flight cancellations and airport closures. Notably, a drone attack near Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, has added to the tensions in the region.
The situation has led to the closure of all Dubai airports and the indefinite suspension of flights. Consequently, Air India Express flight IX-256 from Sharjah to Indore was canceled, leaving numerous passengers from Madhya Pradesh stranded. Among the affected passengers are residents from various districts of Madhya Pradesh, such as Indore, Bhopal, and Gwalior. The abrupt cancellation of flights has disrupted travel plans, particularly for families, women, and children, causing distress and uncertainty among the stranded individuals.
