Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge led a Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in Indira Bhawan, New Delhi. The ongoing high-level meeting is attended by key figures including Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and other senior party leaders.
Among the prominent attendees are Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, senior Congress leader Harish Rawat, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, former MP Salman Khurshid, and MPs Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Rajeev Shukla. Notably, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor participated in the meeting despite recent remarks that were reportedly not in line with the party’s official position.
Addressing the media, Congress leader Harish Rawat emphasized the significance of the meeting, expressing strong disapproval of the removal of Mahatma Gandhi’s name from the MGNREGA in independent India. Another Congress leader, M. Veerappa Moily, highlighted that crucial national issues would be on the agenda for discussion.
The CWC is expected to focus on the party’s strategy for a major movement against the VB G-RAM-G Act. Additionally, discussions regarding the National Herald case, matters related to the Aravalli region, and other key political issues are anticipated during the meeting. Outside the AICC headquarters in Delhi, a group of protesters called for the appointment of Karnataka’s current Home Minister G. Parameshwara as the state’s next Chief Minister, emphasizing the need for Dalit leadership.
