Amid worries about cooking gas availability in Bihar, the Department of Food and Consumer Protection in Bihar has established a control room in Patna. This initiative aims to assist consumers facing challenges in acquiring LPG cylinders promptly. Operating daily from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM, the control room allows residents to lodge complaints or seek information on LPG availability and distribution.
Officials have encouraged consumers to contact the departmental control room at 0612-2233050 to report any issues. The department assures that it will promptly address complaints and take necessary actions. In Patna, the District Magistrate mentioned that there is no shortage of LPG and emphasized the administration’s vigilance against hoarders and black marketers.
In Katihar, despite claims of sufficient stock, long queues outside gas agencies have caused tension. Reports of shortages, though dismissed as rumors, led to a chaotic situation where a woman reportedly fainted while waiting to refill her cylinder. Similarly, in Araria, a raid led by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate resulted in the seizure of 135 LPG cylinders allegedly stored illegally for black marketing.
Sasaram witnessed a similar scenario with consumers queuing up outside gas agencies from early morning. Residents expressed their struggles due to the shortage, especially during the ongoing Ramadan month, when families rely on cooking gas for daily meals. The administration has assured strict actions against hoarding and black marketing, aiming to ensure smooth LPG supply statewide.
