The Counter Intelligence wing Kashmir (CIK) of Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted simultaneous raids in Srinagar, Ganderbal, and Anantnag districts. These raids are part of an investigation into a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The searches are connected to FIR No. 07/2023 at the CIK’s Police Station JIC in Srinagar, involving various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the UAPA, including charges related to promoting enmity and criminal intimidation.
In Srinagar, a CIK team raided the residence of Riyaz Ahmad Beigh, son of Noor Mohammad Beigh, who has been living near Shalteng Police Station for 16 years. Meanwhile, in Ganderbal, a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Nissar Ahmad searched the house of Syed Qalandar Shah, son of Barkat Shah, in Chountwaliwar Lar. The operation in Anantnag saw a CIK team, led by the local DySP and accompanied by NT Mudasir Yosuf Bhat, conducting a raid at the residence of Gulzar Ahmad Rather, son of Abdul Gani Rather, in Nowgam, Kapran.
During the search at the Nowgam Verinag location, investigators found and seized a Redmi 9 Note Pro mobile phone for forensic examination in connection with the UAPA case. The raid in Anantnag concluded peacefully, with no untoward incidents reported. Searches at other locations in the Valley were ongoing, with further details awaited.
