Coventry City FC has officially secured the services of Swiss defender Aurele Amenda on a long-term deal for an undisclosed amount, pending international clearance. Amenda, aged 22, previously played for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, amassing 42 appearances during his two-season stint at Deutsche Bank Park.
Amenda, who was part of Switzerland’s World Cup squad, did not feature in any matches as the team progressed to the quarter-finals before being defeated by Argentina in extra time. Expressing his excitement about joining Coventry City in the Premier League, Amenda emphasized his eagerness to contribute to the team’s success and engage with the fans at the club’s stadium.
Starting his career at BSC Young Boys in Switzerland, Amenda made his debut at 18 years old and played a pivotal role in the team’s league and cup triumph in the 2022/23 season. His standout performances led to a move to Eintracht Frankfurt in February 2024, where he participated in the UEFA Europa League and helped the team secure a third-place finish in the Bundesliga.
The 2025/26 season marked a significant breakthrough for Amenda, with notable contributions in the UEFA Champions League matches. With seven international caps for Switzerland, Amenda was part of the national squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they advanced to the quarter-finals before bowing out to Argentina.
