In a recent operation in Mumbai’s Worli area, authorities cracked down on the illegal black marketing of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders. The raid led to the seizure of a significant stock of gas cylinders that were allegedly being stored and sold illegally in the black market. This action was prompted by confidential information received by the Mumbai Police regarding the unauthorized storage and sale of LPG cylinders in a residential locality.

Following a tip-off, a special team from the ration distribution department conducted a raid at Suraj Vallabhdas Chawl near Worli Naka. Mumbai Police officials at Worli Police Station have filed a case against Nimesh Arvind Jain and the owner of the tempo involved in the illegal gas cylinder operation. The case has been registered under various sections of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, and the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000.

During the raid, authorities discovered a group illegally storing gas cylinders on residential premises and selling them at inflated prices on the black market. The team seized both filled and empty LPG cylinders, including cylinders from HP Gas and other companies. It is believed that these cylinders were being illegally refilled and readied for sale in violation of safety regulations and supply laws.

Officials emphasized the serious safety hazard posed by storing a large number of gas cylinders in a residential area. The seized cylinders and related materials have been handed over to the Worli Police Station for further investigation and legal action. This crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to combat the illegal trade of LPG cylinders in Mumbai, aiming to maintain the official distribution system and ensure public safety.

Authorities are closely monitoring such activities and have warned of strict action against individuals or groups involved in the black marketing of gas cylinders. The administration has issued a stern warning against illegal storage and sale of LPG cylinders, highlighting heightened vigilance and regular inspections to prevent such hazardous practices. Despite challenges in LPG supply, citizens are urged not to panic as the Petroleum Ministry assures continued availability.
