Singh, arrested in connection with the murder of Deepak Kumar, was taken to recover the weapon allegedly used in the crime. While retrieving the firearm near Dhuriyari village, Singh fired at the police team, injuring an officer’s vehicle.
Officials reported that Singh attempted to flee after damaging the police vehicle. In response, the police fired back, causing Singh to sustain a bullet injury to his left leg. He was first treated at Ghosi Primary Health Centre and later referred to Jehanabad Sadar Hospital for further care.
Manoj Kumar Pandey, ASP of Jehanabad, confirmed the events, stating the operation was based on information provided by Singh during interrogation. Security has been heightened at Jehanabad Sadar Hospital following the incident, with increased barricades, entry restrictions, and limited media access.
The encounter occurred shortly after the murder of Deepak Kumar, leading to unrest at the hospital. Police have charged Singh under relevant sections related to murder and the Arms Act. Once discharged from the hospital, Singh will be presented before the district court for legal proceedings.
