Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides shared a light moment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi by taking a selfie before their talks to enhance bilateral ties. The two leaders warmly greeted each other at Hyderabad House before the selfie moment. This gesture echoes similar interactions, as other world leaders like French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni have also taken selfies with PM Modi.
President Christodoulides paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat earlier in the day. During his visit, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with President Christodoulides, appreciating his positive outlook towards strengthening bilateral ties and India-EU cooperation. EAM Jaishankar expressed delight in meeting the Cyprus President and looked forward to further advancing their partnership.
Christodoulides, who arrived in New Delhi following his Mumbai visit, was warmly welcomed by Union Minister Ajay Tamta. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the significance of the visit, building on the momentum from PM Modi’s historic trip to Cyprus in June 2025. The aim is to reinforce the India-Cyprus partnership through shared commitments.
In New Delhi, President Christodoulides is scheduled to meet with President Droupadi Murmu and attend an official banquet at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. His visit also included a stop in Mumbai, where he participated in various engagements, including ringing the NSE India bell with NSE Chairman Srinivas Injeti and NSE MD and CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan.
