Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted the evolving nature of warfare, stating that national security now encompasses economic, digital, energy, and food security beyond borders. Addressing the Raising Day celebrations and Diamond Jubilee of Sainik School, Ghorakhal in Uttarakhand, he emphasized the importance of citizens remaining vigilant in the face of economic, cyber, space, and information warfare.
Singh stressed the necessity of a strong military backed by prepared citizens who can unite to safeguard the nation under any circumstances. He commended the government’s efforts, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in providing advanced weaponry and technologies to the armed forces, while urging the youth to cultivate mental resilience and clarity through discipline.
The Defence Minister urged citizens to exhibit determination in confronting various challenges, citing the concept of VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) scenarios. He encouraged students to adopt their version of VUCA – Vision, Understanding, Courage, and Adaptability – to navigate contemporary challenges effectively.
Singh also mentioned recent initiatives aimed at instilling essential values in the youth for nation-building, including the establishment of 100 new Sainik Schools through Public-Private Partnership. Additionally, he highlighted the expansion of vacancies in the National Cadet Corps from 17 lakh to 20 lakh, emphasizing the historic decision to admit girls into Sainik Schools, empowering ‘Nari Shakti’.
Extending his best wishes to the Sainik School, Ghorakhal, on its 60th anniversary, Singh expressed confidence in the students’ ability to uphold discipline and dedication. He praised the school’s contribution, having sent numerous students to the National Defence Academy and Armed Forces, shaping them into proud representatives of their families, institution, and the nation.
