Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has arrived in Seoul for a three-day visit to enhance strategic military cooperation between India and South Korea. During his stay, Singh will engage in bilateral talks with South Korea’s Minister of National Defence, Ahn Gyu-back, to review and strengthen defence cooperation initiatives. The visit aims to deepen ties and explore collaboration in various mutual interest areas.
Singh’s visit follows his recent trip to Hanoi, where India and Vietnam reinforced their Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. In Seoul, he is also scheduled to meet Minister of Defence Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), Lee, Yong-cheol, and lead the India-Korea business roundtable. The Defence Ministry highlighted India’s historical contributions during the Korean War, emphasizing the country’s commitment to global peace and stability through significant medical and repatriation efforts.
To commemorate the sacrifices of soldiers, a joint inauguration of the Indian War Memorial with Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, Kwon Oh-eul, is planned for May 21. The Defence Ministry underscored the alignment of India’s ‘Act East Policy’ and South Korea’s ‘Indo-Pacific Strategy,’ signaling a new phase in the countries’ relations based on shared values in the Indo-Pacific Region.
