Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta emphasized the importance of maintaining accurate electoral rolls during an awareness meeting in Rohini. He highlighted the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process as crucial for a healthy democracy. Gupta urged residents to actively engage with booth-level officers to ensure the integrity of the voter registry by eliminating duplicates and updating information.
The event in Rohini’s Sector-9 aimed to raise public awareness about the electoral roll update. Gupta explained that the SIR involves a meticulous verification drive to correct errors, register new voters, and update existing data. He stressed the need for timely verification to prevent eligible citizens from losing their voting rights in future elections.
Gupta called for community mobilization to support the SIR initiative. He encouraged Resident Welfare Associations, youth volunteers, and elders to spread awareness and assist neighbors with the verification process. The Speaker reiterated the goal of achieving 100% voter enrollment to ensure every eligible citizen can exercise their right to vote in Rohini and across Delhi.
