Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta emphasized the importance of regular attendance for House Committees, stating that their effectiveness relies on members’ seriousness and active participation. He issued an advisory to members of the Eighth Legislative Assembly, stressing the critical role Committees play in governance, administrative functions, and public accountability. Gupta highlighted that meaningful engagement within Committees strengthens institutional operations and ensures well-considered recommendations.
The Speaker pointed out that Committee proceedings often require the presence of senior officers from relevant departments for presentations and providing factual inputs. He mentioned that the participation of senior-most officers facilitates substantive discussions and expedites decision-making processes. Additionally, the General Administration Department of the Delhi government directed Administrative Secretaries to attend Committee sittings when summoned by the Assembly Secretariat.
