After a debate on pollution in the Delhi Assembly was disrupted by clashes between the ruling BJP and the Opposition AAP, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa called on the Opposition to participate in the discussion set for the following day. Sirsa emphasized the importance of dialogue in addressing pollution issues and urged all parties to engage in a meaningful debate for the benefit of the public. The government aims to shed light on the previous administration’s alleged failures in pollution control over the past 11 years.
Sirsa clarified that the discussion was not about targeting any specific party but rather about accountability, transparency, and safeguarding public health. He stressed that pollution is a critical health issue affecting millions of Delhi residents and should not be politicized. The government’s focus is on presenting facts and solutions to combat pollution effectively. Sirsa accused the previous government of policy paralysis and claimed that the current administration has taken significant steps in just 11 months to improve air quality in Delhi.
The Minister highlighted the direct link between air pollution and public health, underscoring the need for a comprehensive discussion on long-term pollution solutions. He expressed disappointment over disruptions in the Assembly due to objectionable language used by the Opposition Leader, resulting in missed opportunities for substantive discussions. Despite the challenges, the government extended the Assembly session to ensure a thorough examination of pollution causes and solutions for a healthier Delhi.
