Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra revealed that the Presidents of 11 Organisational Districts have released lists of party office-bearers for their respective districts. The announcement for three districts – Outer Delhi, West Delhi, and Najafgarh – will be made in consultation with the current District Presidents. The Delhi unit has introduced a new list of office-bearers, ensuring 33 percent representation for women in line with the national leadership’s commitment to women’s empowerment, and has also provided significant opportunities for youth.
The new organisational structure is expected to invigorate the party’s efforts in serving the people of Delhi. Malhotra, speaking at an event commemorating the Emergency as “Samvidhan Hatya Diwas,” highlighted the oppressive period when democracy was suppressed in the country. He emphasized that the Emergency era saw restrictions on press freedom, removal of privileges, and hardships faced by opposition workers and ordinary citizens. Malhotra stressed the importance of educating the younger generation about the Emergency period and the significance of pillars like an independent judiciary, a free press, an active civil society, and informed citizens in upholding democracy.
During the event organized by the Delhi BJP to mark the Emergency, Malhotra underscored the role of the people as the ultimate decision-makers in a democracy. The gathering, held at the NDMC Convention Centre, aimed to remember the Emergency imposed by the Congress government in 1975 and honor 115 Loktantra Senanis (democracy warriors) who bravely opposed the government’s actions.
