Criticizing AAP leaders, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva expressed concern over their alleged actions to sow discord between Hindus and Sikhs. He highlighted a forensic laboratory report confirming “indecent” remarks by AAP leader Atishi against Sikh Gurus. Sachdeva condemned Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj’s statement, warning against potential incitement of Hindu-Sikh riots.
Sachdeva raised alarm over Bharadwaj’s remarks, suggesting a dangerous motive to instigate unrest amid slipping political support in Punjab. He emphasized the validity of the inquiry report on Atishi’s comments, based on an examination of the original Assembly recording. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in Amritsar also passed a resolution against Atishi, reflecting widespread discontent among the Sikh community.
Demanding accountability, Delhi BJP urged the Speaker to take legal action against Atishi and suspend her from the House. Delhi BJP Media Head Praveen Shankar Kapoor criticized AAP’s alleged deception and attempts to conceal their leader’s misconduct. Kapoor highlighted Atishi’s previous controversial remarks and AAP leaders’ efforts to distort facts following the forensic report’s release.
AAP leaders’ press conferences aimed at downplaying the issue were denounced by the Delhi BJP spokesperson. The party emphasized the enduring unity between Hindus and Sikhs, dismissing AAP’s alleged attempts to stoke communal tensions. The BJP reiterated its stance on preserving harmony and denounced any efforts to disrupt the longstanding bond between the two communities.
