US President Donald Trump stated that a “new, and more reasonable, regime” was now in place in Iran, hinting at a regime change. He mentioned significant headway in “serious talks” with Iran. Trump emphasized his goal of “regime change,” although Tehran has not shown any signs of this.

In a recent statement on Truth Social, Trump asserted that the destruction of the first and second layers of the Tehran regime had occurred, moving on to what he referred to as the “third regime.” He highlighted that Washington was engaging with a different set of individuals.

The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan met over the weekend, suggesting potential diplomatic progress in a statement released by Islamabad. Tehran denied direct negotiations but acknowledged discussions of messages through intermediaries.

Trump mentioned that as a goodwill gesture to prove their sincerity in talks, unidentified Iranians allowed 20 oil ships with Pakistani flags to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. However, he did not confirm any connection of these ships to the US.

Despite expressing optimism about reaching a deal soon, Trump issued a warning on Truth Social. He threatened to destroy Iran’s electric generating plants, oil wells, Kharg Island, and potentially all desalination plants if an agreement was not promptly reached.

Tasnim News Agency reported Iran’s denial of direct negotiations with the US but acknowledged receiving messages through intermediaries indicating US interest in talks. Trump’s post on progress in talks followed the reinforcement of US military presence in the region with over 50,000 troops, including elite soldiers from the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar discussed ways to end the regional war with counterparts from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye. He briefed them on the potential for US-Iran talks in Islamabad without confirming their immediacy or Iran’s agreement.

Despite ongoing fighting, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced retaliatory strikes against facilities in the region used by US and Israeli personnel.
