Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva criticized Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal for resorting to “victim card” politics regarding a judicial issue related to the excise policy. Sachdeva emphasized the independence of investigative agencies and courts in India, highlighting their authority to conduct investigations and deliver impartial judgments. He pointed out that if an investigative agency is confident in its evidence, it can challenge lower court decisions in the High Court, which holds the power to overturn such rulings.
Recent developments in the trial court handling the excise policy case prompted Sachdeva to accuse Kejriwal of lacking respect for the judiciary and only valuing favorable judgments. Sachdeva suggested that Kejriwal should have paid attention to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement instead of rushing to play the victim. According to Sachdeva, the Home Minister expressed confidence in the CBI’s case, its evidence, and its potential success in the High Court.
Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor also criticized Kejriwal and other AAP leaders for their behavior in response to adverse judicial decisions. Kapoor questioned the AAP leaders’ approach of seeking court transfers when faced with unfavorable verdicts, labeling it as an insult to the judicial system. He urged AAP leaders to acknowledge that every court has an appellate process in the Indian judicial system until a matter reaches the Supreme Court.
