Delhi Capitals’ fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has commended his teammate, all-rounder Auqib Nabi, calling him a ‘complete cricketer’ and expressing admiration for his performance in the Ranji Trophy. Nabi, who was signed by DC for Rs. 8.40 crore, played a crucial role in Jammu & Kashmir’s Ranji Trophy victory by taking 60 wickets at an impressive average of 12.56.
Despite a modest IPL debut with figures of 0-17 in two overs against Chennai Super Kings, Nabi is seen as a strong contender for his maiden Test cap for India later this year. Ngidi shared his excitement about meeting Nabi, highlighting the all-rounder’s success in the previous season and his versatile skills with both bat and ball.
Ngidi praised Nabi’s cricketing abilities, emphasizing his skill in various aspects of the game such as swinging the ball, bowling yorkers, and batting proficiency. The fast bowler also lauded Nabi’s temperament and work ethic, describing him as a humble and hardworking individual who is dedicated to improving his game.
Bowling coach Munaf Patel revealed that Ngidi has been closely working with Nabi during practice sessions, appreciating not just Nabi’s skills but also his grounded nature and commitment to the sport. Ngidi highlighted the importance of meeting aspiring cricketers like Nabi who are striving to establish themselves in the national team and make a mark in the cricketing world.
In the ongoing season, Ngidi has showcased his proficiency in bowling slower balls, particularly excelling in delivering wide slower yorkers. He explained the complexity of executing this delivery and emphasized the significance of precision and practice in mastering such a challenging ball, which he considers highly effective for restricting batsmen.
