Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta conducted an unannounced inspection in and around Azadpur, covering areas like Gupta Market, Azadpur Chowk, and Tripolia Chowk. She questioned officials about project delays and reviewed the progress of ongoing works by the Delhi Metro and the Public Works Department (PWD). Expressing dissatisfaction with the delays and poor coordination, the Chief Minister warned officials that negligence in development work would not be tolerated.
Visibly displeased with the state of affairs, Chief Minister Gupta emphasized the need for tangible development on the ground rather than just on paper. She instructed all departments to ensure timely completion of projects without compromising public safety or convenience. Gupta stressed the importance of transparency, adherence to strict timelines, and maintaining high-quality standards to ensure citizens receive the intended benefits promptly.
Addressing issues like waterlogging, Chief Minister Gupta directed the PWD to revamp the drainage system in Azadpur, Adarsh Nagar, and Tripolia Chowk under a new master plan. She also ordered immediate desilting of drains and emphasized the importance of both short-term relief and long-term solutions. Additionally, she urged officials to expedite road repairs, maintain pothole-free streets, and enhance the aesthetics of footpaths to promote walkability.
Emphasizing the importance of civic maintenance, Chief Minister Gupta called for improved waste management systems, regular cleanliness drives, and prompt repairs of public infrastructure. She warned that all work would be closely monitored, and any shortcomings would result in direct accountability for the responsible officials. During the inspection, she also reviewed Metro construction works, paying close attention to technical and structural aspects to ensure quality and safety standards were met.
