Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently unveiled 25 new Atal canteens in the city, boosting the daily meal servings to 71,000, as per government officials. She criticized previous administrations for delaying the Rs 5 meal initiative for years. Gupta highlighted the swift progress under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, with 71 Atal Canteens established within a year.
Chief Minister Gupta, alongside Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, inaugurated the new canteens across various Delhi locations. She emphasized the significance of these canteens in providing affordable and nutritious meals to hardworking individuals. Inspired by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the aim is to set up 100 Atal Canteens in Delhi to ensure that no needy person in the capital goes hungry.
The event saw the presence of Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, Delhi Minister Ashish Sood, BJP MLA Anil Goyal, and other local dignitaries. The launch of Atal Canteens follows Chief Minister Gupta’s recent announcement of significant development projects for Trans-Yamuna areas, including road upgrades, drainage reconstructions, and addressing waterlogging issues. This initiative reflects a commitment to providing equal rights and improved facilities to enhance the quality of life in these regions.
