Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has granted Rs 1 crore assistance to the families of frontline workers who sacrificed their lives during the Covid-19 pandemic. She emphasized the enduring significance of these workers’ contributions and assured the government’s unwavering support for their families. Chief Minister Gupta recently engaged with sanitation workers from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, commending their dedication and pivotal role in enhancing Delhi’s cleanliness.
She joined the workers for a meal, expressing appreciation for their hard work and commitment. The interaction occurred during the launch of a door-to-door waste collection and transportation initiative in the West Delhi Municipal Corporation area, marked by the deployment of 917 modern vehicles. Chief Minister Gupta highlighted the government’s aim to establish a modern, technology-driven, and citizen-centric solid waste management system, focusing not only on waste collection but also on accountability and efficiency.
The new system is expected to streamline waste collection processes, ensuring timeliness and transparency while contributing to a cleaner and healthier Delhi. Chief Minister Gupta expressed confidence that with advanced technology, robust infrastructure, and public involvement, Delhi would emerge as the cleanest and most well-managed capital in the nation. The project is set to benefit approximately 4.5 lakh families across 25 wards of the West Delhi Municipal Corporation, with an initial rollout in six wards and plans to expand to the remaining 19 wards by August 31.
