Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will spearhead the ‘Maa Yamuna Tat Swachhata Abhiyan’ on Sunday, overseeing voluntary efforts at 28 riverbank ghats. The campaign aims to enhance community commitment towards a cleaner Yamuna. Joining citizens at the Geeta Colony Ghat, Chief Minister Gupta will emphasize the importance of a pristine river.
Ministers from the Delhi government and Members of Parliament are set to engage in the initiative, with Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra contributing at the Yamuna Bank. Scheduled from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., the drive will involve volunteers clearing litter along the riverbanks. Chief Minister Gupta stressed that the Yamuna holds significant cultural, religious, and environmental value for Delhi.
The responsibility for preserving and tidying the Yamuna extends beyond the government to every individual, Chief Minister Gupta highlighted. The campaign seeks to spread awareness and foster collective involvement in safeguarding the river. Emphasizing the need for sustained efforts, she described the cleanliness of the Yamuna as an ongoing public movement requiring broad societal engagement.
