Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan to discuss inclusive development. Gupta expressed gratitude for the President’s commitment to constitutional values and inclusive growth. The meeting followed Gupta’s announcement of initiatives supporting construction workers and rural development in Delhi.
At a public event, CM Gupta facilitated the transfer of over Rs 12.40 crore to 15,706 children of construction workers for their education. She also inaugurated new panchayat buildings and launched 59 development projects in rural areas. These projects, costing Rs 134 crore, aim to enhance infrastructure and civic facilities in rural Delhi.
During the event, Gupta emphasized the importance of workers in Delhi’s progress, highlighting their contribution to the city’s development. She criticized past administrations for not utilizing funds for workers’ welfare effectively. The current government, she stated, is dedicated to supporting workers for the city’s strength and growth.
Under the education assistance scheme of the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, financial aid is provided to children of registered workers to prevent dropouts due to financial constraints. The scheme offers monthly support ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 10,000 based on the students’ educational levels and courses pursued.
