Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the approval of the Delhi Start-up and Incubation Policy, aiming to boost innovation, research, and entrepreneurship in the capital with a Rs 400 crore investment over five years. The policy intends to position Delhi as a leading hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, supporting young individuals in transforming their ideas into successful start-ups.
As part of the initiative, an Annual ‘Delhi Start-up Youth Festival’ will be organized to bring together innovators, educational institutions, investors, and policymakers to foster entrepreneurship among the youth. The State Cabinet has given its nod to the policy, emphasizing a shift from job seekers to job creators among Delhi’s youth.
Chief Minister Gupta highlighted the policy’s focus on building a robust innovation ecosystem in educational institutions across Delhi. The initiative will kick off in 11 state universities, 13 government-aided colleges, and other educational establishments, providing financial aid for setting up and enhancing incubation centers.
The policy ensures that start-ups linked with these centers receive financial support at various growth stages, from prototype development to commercialization. It aims to offer modern infrastructure, mentoring, business advisory services, and networking opportunities to young entrepreneurs, fostering a culture of innovation and creating employment prospects in Delhi.
