The Delhi High Court dismissed Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav’s request for more time to surrender in connection with multiple cheque bounce cases. Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma stated that Yadav had been given ample opportunities but failed to comply with court directives. Despite being granted a two-day extension to surrender, Yadav was ordered to report by 4 p.m. on the same day as he was in Mumbai.
In a recent ruling, the court instructed Yadav to surrender by 4 p.m. on February 4 due to his repeated failure to fulfill settlement commitments. Yadav had been convicted in 2024 under the Negotiable Instruments Act, with his sentence suspended earlier pending resolution with the complainant company. However, despite assurances and timelines, no payments were made for almost a year.
The court emphasized that Yadav had already received significant leniency and that there was no reason to further extend the deadline. Despite acknowledging Yadav’s professional commitments in Mumbai, the court directed him to surrender by the specified time. The case is scheduled for a compliance update on February 5.
