The Delhi High Court has asked the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for a status report regarding Jawad Ahmad Siddiqui’s plea for interim bail. Siddiqui, accused in the Al-Falah Trust money laundering case, seeks temporary release for six weeks due to his wife’s Stage-IV ovarian cancer treatment. His request was rejected by a trial court earlier.

Senior advocate Vikram Chaudhri, representing Siddiqui, informed the court that Siddiqui’s wife, Usma Akhtar, requires continuous care for her cancer treatment. Siddiqui, claiming to be the primary caregiver, is seeking interim bail to support his wife during her medical care.

The ED opposed Siddiqui’s plea, stating it was not maintainable. The federal anti-money laundering agency argued against granting interim bail to Siddiqui. The court will address the matter further once the ED submits its response.
