Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena highlighted the Delhi Development Authority’s efforts in enhancing sports infrastructure and fostering a sports culture in the city. The LG emphasized the importance of realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Fit India” and “Khelo India.” Saxena commended the DDA for including sports like Football, Archery, and Shooting in the LG Cup 2026 to engage a wider audience and promote inclusivity in sports events.

The LG Cup’s grand finale, held at DDA’s Yamuna Sports Complex, marked the successful conclusion of a prestigious multi-disciplinary sports tournament. Minister of State for Road Transport and Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra, DDA Vice Chairman N. Saravana Kumar, and other senior DDA officials graced the ceremony where winners received their medals.

The LG Cup for Football, conducted at the DDA Sports Complex in Dwarka from January 12 to 16, witnessed intense competition among 12 teams in men’s and women’s categories. Notably, Team Young Boys clinched victory in the men’s category, while Hops FC emerged as the winners in the women’s category.

In addition to Football, the LG Cup also featured Archery and Shooting events. The Archery competition, held at Yamuna Sports Complex from January 16 to 17, saw 94 archers from 13 States participating across various categories. Similarly, the Shooting competition took place at Siri Fort Sports Complex from January 16 to 18, covering Air Rifle and Air Pistol events under different age categories and formats.
