The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has initiated construction at the Central Secretariat Metro Station for the Central Vista Corridor in New Delhi. This project, part of Phase V(A), extends the existing Magenta Line from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg. The Central Secretariat station will serve as a triple interchange station connecting the new Magenta Line with the Yellow Line and Violet Line.
Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, attended the event alongside senior officials from the ministry and DMRC. The Central Vista Corridor covers 9.913 km and includes nine underground stations, such as India Gate, War Memorial–High Court, and Baroda House. This development aims to enhance connectivity to key government offices, judicial institutions, and national memorials in New Delhi.
The Magenta Line, part of the Delhi Metro network, is poised to become the longest corridor, spanning approximately 89 kilometers from Botanical Garden to Inderlok. Once operational, this driverless metro corridor will feature 65 stations, with 40 underground stations. The project’s extensive interchange facilities are expected to streamline travel, alleviate congestion, and offer seamless connectivity across the city.
Noteworthy engineering feats on the Magenta Line include Haiderpur Badli Mor, the system’s highest elevated Metro station, and Hauz Khas, the deepest underground Metro station. These milestones underscore the corridor’s intricate engineering and technological advancements.
