Residents in Delhi-NCR woke up to pleasant weather with cloudy skies, cool winds, and lower humidity after heavy rainfall in the past two days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts more heavy rain in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, while Mumbai and parts of Maharashtra are expected to see a decrease in rainfall. An orange alert has been issued for Delhi due to expected heavy rainfall during the day, with a forecast of reduced intensity from July 11.
In Maharashtra, rainfall is expected to weaken with light showers across most areas, although Pune and Satara have been put on orange alert and other regions on yellow alert. Uttar Pradesh faces red and orange alerts for heavy rainfall, with districts like Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, and Moradabad under the red alert for extremely heavy rainfall. The weather department advises caution in districts like Sitapur, Hardoi, and Saharanpur under orange alerts.
Delhi-NCR, especially Noida and Ghaziabad, experienced heavy rainfall causing waterlogging and traffic disruptions, with Gurugram witnessing severe traffic jams. The Southwest Monsoon has progressed into the north Arabian Sea, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab, covering the entire country on July 9, a day later than usual. This marks the completion of the monsoon’s seasonal advance across India.
