The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts relief for Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) residents as severe heatwave conditions are unlikely in the upcoming week. Maximum temperatures are expected to stay at or below 40 degrees Celsius with rain and thunderstorms predicted to bring relief from the heat and humidity.
According to the IMD’s seven-day forecast, temperatures on June 25 are expected to reach 39 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of around 27 degrees Celsius, accompanied by partly cloudy skies and possible thunderstorms in some areas.
Weather conditions are set to intensify on June 26 with a maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius, along with forecasts of rain and thunderstorms. Similar conditions are expected on June 27, with temperatures touching 39 degrees Celsius and remaining around 29 degrees Celsius, along with intermittent cloud cover and rain.
June 28 may see temperatures rise to 40 degrees Celsius with a minimum of 29 degrees Celsius, although rainfall chances are lower, strong surface winds are expected to provide relief from the heat. June 29 is predicted to have a maximum temperature of around 39 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 29 degrees Celsius with rain and thunderstorms.
On June 30, temperatures are expected to settle at 38 degrees Celsius maximum and around 28 degrees Celsius minimum, with a continued possibility of rain and thunderstorms. The Meteorological Department has not issued any weather warnings for the upcoming days.
Experts suggest that while afternoons may be warm, mornings and evenings will be pleasant with intermittent winds, cloud cover, and rainfall helping to maintain temperatures and prevent heatwave conditions. Residents can anticipate significant relief from severe heat in the next week, which is expected to bring comfort to the public and benefit farmers and the environment.
