A team from Delhi’s Gokalpuri Police Station apprehended a suspect under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and successfully saved a kidnapped minor girl. The incident unfolded when a woman reported her 17-year-old daughter missing since June 20, prompting the family’s frantic search efforts.
Upon suspecting a kidnapping, the mother sought legal intervention from the police. Consequently, a case was filed under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), leading to a thorough investigation by a dedicated police squad. The team, under the leadership of Gokalpuri SHO Inspector Umed Singh, utilized technical surveillance and local intelligence to track down the victim and detain the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Karan.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, and authorities recovered the mobile phone used in the offense. Additional charges under Sections 64(1) & 87 BNS and Section 4 of the POCSO Act were included based on the investigation’s findings. Notably, the accused had no prior criminal record, with ongoing inquiries into the case.
In a separate incident, the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Delhi Police’s Outer North District successfully located and reunited a missing minor girl with her family. The girl, a Delhi resident, was reported missing, leading to swift police action and diligent follow-up, resulting in her safe recovery and handover to the Alipur Police Station for legal procedures.
