Delhi Police’s West District Special Staff apprehended an alleged bootlegger involved in transporting illicit liquor in the capital. The police seized 76 cartons of illegal liquor and the vehicle used for the transportation. This action follows a previous seizure of 31 cartons, indicating a crackdown on bootlegging networks in the city.
A specific tip-off on May 10 led the police to intercept a vehicle carrying illicit liquor near Rajdhani College. The police team, under Inspector Rajesh Maurya, swiftly acted on the information and successfully apprehended the suspect. The accused, identified as Mahender, was caught with 76 cartons of illicit liquor, including various brands.
Mahender, a 44-year-old resident of Jahangir Puri, Delhi, confessed during interrogation to his involvement in the illegal liquor trade. He disclosed supplying illicit liquor on multiple occasions in the past and revealed details about his associate, Ashu, who arranged the liquor consignment and vehicle. Efforts are ongoing to track down other individuals connected to the illicit liquor syndicate.
