Delhi Police have taken into custody Arastu Sikka, the husband of 28-year-old Akriti Sutar, following her demise in what appears to be a case of dowry harassment. The incident occurred just over two months after their marriage, with Akriti found deceased in a residential complex in Delhi’s Lodhi Colony.
Akriti’s family alleges that she was murdered due to persistent dowry demands, despite initial indications suggesting a fall from a building’s third floor. Akriti, who had tied the knot with Arastu on April 24, had resumed work on the day of her death after a brief leave, showing no signs of distress according to her relatives.
The victim’s family refutes any possibility of suicide, emphasizing Akriti’s normal behavior throughout the day. They claim she spoke to her mother hours before her death, sounding cheerful and giving no hint of trouble. The investigation is ongoing, with the police exploring all leads, including the family’s accusations of harassment and threats.
