Delhi Police swiftly apprehended Upender alias Piyush (22) after a mobile phone snatching incident in Madhu Vihar. The arrest led to the recovery of a snatched phone, a scooty used in the crime, and two additional stolen phones, solving four criminal cases. Efforts are ongoing to locate and detain his absconding accomplice.
The snatching incident was reported on July 25 at Police Station Madhu Vihar after a PCR call. Complainant Ayush Das detailed how two men on a blue scooty snatched his phone near DCP Cut in IP Extension. FIR No. 293/2026 was filed under relevant sections, initiating an investigation by the police.
Following the complainant’s account, the police initiated an intensive search, leading to the arrest of Upender near Utsav Ground, IP Extension. The recovered items included the complainant’s phone and the scooty used in the crime, which was reported stolen. Two more stolen phones were found during the operation, linked to separate theft cases.
Delhi Police confirmed the resolution of four criminal cases, attributing the success to the arrest. Upender admitted to the crime and implicated an associate, prompting a search at the associate’s residence. Despite the associate’s absence, authorities are actively pursuing his arrest. The accused is in custody, and legal procedures are underway for his prosecution.
