A 28-year-old history-sheeter, Nikhil alias Birana alias Nitin, was apprehended by Delhi Police in the Anand Vihar area. The police recovered a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from his possession. Nikhil has a criminal record involving cases related to the Arms Act, theft, snatching, gambling, and other offenses.
The arrest was part of Delhi Police’s preventive policing drive to combat illegal firearms possession in the capital and surrounding areas. The police team, led by the Station House Officer of Police Station Patparganj Industrial Area, acted on specific intelligence regarding illegal arms activities. A dedicated team, including ASI Ajit Kumar and other officers, was deployed for surveillance and patrolling.
Acting on a tip-off on June 23, the police team located Nikhil beneath the Anand Vihar Railway Flyover. Despite attempting to flee, Nikhil was captured after a brief chase. A search led to the recovery of a country-made pistol and live cartridges. Nikhil, a resident of Old Seema Puri, confessed to intending theft or snatching.
Nikhil, who works as a laborer, has a criminal history despite his primary-level education. He was previously injured in a police encounter in Noida in 2025. Following his release from jail in March 2026, he resumed criminal activities before his recent arrest. Nikhil has been involved in 21 criminal cases across Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad, including Arms Act violations, theft, snatching, and gambling offenses.
