The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has apprehended a wanted criminal who had been on the run for almost three months. The arrested individual, identified as Nadeem, was wanted in connection with an attempt to murder case at Safdarjung Enclave. Nadeem, aged 32 and a resident of Jamia Nagar, had been evading authorities since the incident occurred.
A team from the Crime Branch’s RK Puram unit, led by Inspector Rampal under the supervision of ACP Umesh Barthwal and DCP (Crime) Pankaj Kumar, successfully carried out the arrest. The arrest was a result of continuous surveillance and intelligence gathering efforts by the police.
The case dates back to a night in February when Nadeem, along with his associates, reportedly assaulted and shot at a man named Tarif near Uphar Cinema in South Delhi. The accused, accompanied by co-accused individuals, engaged in a confrontation with a woman which escalated into physical violence against the complainant.
Nadeem, along with his accomplices, had been traveling in a Hyundai Creta car during the altercation. While two of the co-accused had been previously apprehended by local authorities, Nadeem had managed to evade capture until now. Despite filing for anticipatory bail, he was eventually arrested in Jamia Nagar following a well-coordinated police operation on April 29.
During interrogation, Nadeem reportedly confessed to his involvement in the crime. He was apprehended under Section 35(1)(C) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Nadeem, who operates a garment shop in the Garhi area and has a criminal record with prior cases, is currently under investigation by the police.
