In a significant development during the anti-narcotics campaign ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, Delhi Police have dismantled a suspected drug trafficking ring involving three individuals, including two foreigners overstaying in India. The operation, led by Patel Nagar Police Station, resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of Amphetamine on June 25. Acting on specific intelligence, the police team, under Inspector Naveen Kumar, apprehended one suspect near the Shadipur Flyover with 54 grams of Amphetamine in his possession.
The interrogation of the first suspect led to further arrests in Nihal Vihar and Nilothi, bringing the total detained to three individuals. The arrested individuals include Prince (22) from Nihal Vihar, Delhi, and Cape Town, South Africa, Efosa Mikel Atohan alias Leon (24) from Uttam Nagar, Delhi, and Benin City, Nigeria, and Justin Chukuwa (36) from Nilothi, Delhi. The accused, primarily of Nigerian origin, were allegedly involved in importing and distributing Amphetamine across Delhi for financial gain.
The police investigation revealed that the two foreign nationals had overstayed in India after their visas expired. Efforts are underway to track down the drug source and recipients. Authorities are scrutinizing the financial activities, phone records, and potential interstate and international connections of the accused to dismantle the entire drug trafficking network. The Ministry of External Affairs has been informed about the visa violations, and further inquiries are ongoing.
