Delhi Police dismantled an illegal liquor mixing unit and apprehended one individual, seizing a significant amount of illicit liquor along with counterfeit labels and stickers. The operation led by the West District Police resulted in the confiscation of 173 bottles of high-end illicit liquor from 14 cartons, including renowned brands like Gold Label, Glenfiddich, and Glenlivet. Additionally, fake labels, brand stickers, and bottle caps of imported liquor were also discovered at the site.
The crackdown on bulk suppliers and mixers involved in the production and distribution of illicit liquor is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies. The Special Staff of the West District, entrusted with targeting such offenders, received specific intelligence on an illegal liquor mixing unit near Bharat Gas Agency in Shivaji Enclave, Rajouri Garden, Delhi. Acting on this information, a police team conducted a raid at the premises and uncovered the illicit liquor mixing and refilling setup.
The accused, identified as Ajay, was arrested under Section 33 of the Delhi Excise Act. During interrogation, Ajay confessed to refilling expensive imported liquor bottles with cheaper contents obtained from wedding and banquet halls in Wazirpur. He would then attach fake labels and stickers purchased from Gurugram to deceive customers and make unlawful profits. Ajay, a 24-year-old resident of Wazirpur Industrial Area, Ashok Vihar, has no prior criminal record and is currently under investigation.
