In a significant breakthrough, the Delhi Police dismantled an interstate gang involved in organized vehicle theft. Two individuals, Sarfaraz from Mehrauli and Rahul Kesharwani from Amethi, were apprehended for their history of auto theft. The police seized 11 stolen vehicles from their possession and impounded the auto-rickshaw used in their operations.

The crackdown on auto-lifters was initiated following a complaint by Bobby Khan regarding the theft of his Bajaj Discover motorcycle. Through thorough analysis of CCTV footage and local inquiries, a police team successfully nabbed the suspects near CDR Chowk. This led to the recovery of 11 stolen motorcycles and the auto-rickshaw, aiding in the resolution of multiple vehicle theft cases in Delhi.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to targeting unattended motorcycles and scooters in residential and public areas during late hours. They either hid the stolen vehicles in secluded spots or sold them to buyers after altering their identities for quick profits. The Mehrauli police, with the help of scientific analysis and technical surveillance, played a crucial role in dismantling the cross-border auto theft network.
