In a significant move against illegal drugs, the Anti-Narcotics Squad (ANS) of Delhi’s East District Police has dismantled an inter-state drug syndicate operating between Delhi-NCR and Bihar. Six traffickers have been apprehended, and authorities have seized 58.7 kg of ganja along with Rs 5.31 lakh in cash. The crackdown involved the arrest of two suspects initially, followed by the apprehension of four others during subsequent investigations, leading to the unraveling of key suppliers and distribution networks spanning across states.
The case, registered as FIR No. 90/2026 on April 2 at Pandav Nagar police station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, initially saw the arrest of two individuals, Nadeem and Monu alias Abhishek, both Delhi residents, with 45.760 kg of ganja, cash worth Rs 2.65 lakh, an electronic weighing machine, and packaging materials used for retail distribution. The ANS team, through comprehensive investigation, traced both backward and forward linkages to identify the source and distribution chain.
Further efforts by the ANS team, based on technical surveillance and intelligence inputs, led to the arrest of Sher Khan, a crucial supplier from Loni in Ghaziabad, on April 9. Despite attempts to evade arrest by switching off his phone, Khan was apprehended. Subsequently, on April 11, Pinki Kaur alias Don, a local receiver and peddler from Kalyanpuri, was also arrested, with 2.636 kg of ganja and suspected drug proceeds of Rs 2.66 lakh recovered from her possession, along with packaging materials.
Investigations unveiled that the illicit substances were being sourced from Bihar. Acting on this information, the police set a trap near Sanjay Jheel in Delhi, leading to the arrest of two Bihar-based suppliers, Deepak Patel and Vikas Rai, found with approximately 10.3 kg of ganja. In total, authorities have seized 58.696 kg of ganja, valued at around Rs 30 lakh in the illicit market, and Rs 5,31,580 in cash, along with an electronic weighing machine and bulk packaging materials.
The arrested individuals were part of an organized supply chain that procured ganja in bulk from Bihar, storing it in rented or residential premises in Delhi-NCR to avoid suspicion. The contraband was repackaged into smaller pouches for distribution through local networks, primarily targeting densely populated areas. A senior police officer emphasized that the operation underscores ongoing efforts to disrupt organized drug networks and combat inter-state trafficking through intelligence-driven enforcement. No prior criminal records have been reported for any of the accused, with investigations ongoing to uncover additional links within the network.
